Just Working on My Skills

I've been sewing clothing since I was a kid, but sewing is rather skill demanding and it's not like riding a bicycle. If I don't sew for awhile, I tend to forget some of the little tricks that make a good piece of work, amazing. Whether it is something for my kids or for myself, I am trying to sew at least one new piece every week, just to keep up on my skills. I am lucky enough too, to have a good friend who enjoys sewing as much as I do, and has shared some good tips and tricks with me. Mary Ruth has given me some much needed lessons on how to use a coverstitch machine, best threads to use in all of my machines, and is overall just a great wealth of sewing information. Thank you so much Mary Ruth!!

Now, back in the sewing room and fresh off the pressing table yesterday was a new top for myself. I don't have a great picture to share yet, but I am so happy to have a new piece for my wardrobe. A few days ago though, I finished a new outfit for Morgan. A Sweet Caroline Tank and some Bonnie Leggings paired perfectly with my Kammie Lou Lou Sunshine Gang fabric. I still have plenty of this gorgeous print available to sew up for all those Rainbow Brite fans out there!

In the sewing room and ready to sew!!

My projects on the sewing table are usually for Morgan, but sometimes
I give her wardrobe a break and find something fun to sew up for one of the boys. Aidan is getting to the age where he isn't quite sure about wearing Mom's creations. Mostly because his friends always ask him about his clothes and he apparently doesn't like the attention. Kian however, still thinks it is pretty cool! So, that is who I will be sewing for tomorrow. I like to let him pick the coordinating fabrics and style of shirt because he gets as excited about the project then as I am. He originally wanted long sleeves on a basic shirt and I helped him choose dark grey as the coordinating solid. However I knew he wanted some tanks for this summer, so after a little prodding by mom, he did decide to do a tank top.

The panel I am using to sew Kian's tank is from Peek-a-boo Fabric. I have 2 more panels that are available to be sewn up. Get the basic tee with your choice of matching solid coordinate and any of the shirt options: hood, sleeves, cuffs or bands. Feel free to email morgansthreads@gmail.com to order your tee or another style of shirt. I love to do custom requests, so please don't hesitate to request something special!

Labels have arrived!!

Well, I took a little hiatus from the blog while I was waiting on my labels to arrive. But, they are finally here and I am so excited!! Now I can get to sewing and every garment will have a compliant clothing label attached.

More fabric has been arriving too!! Last week my order from Peek-a-Boo Fabric arrived, which included campfire cutie panels and all things wild and free panels. Also, the panels and coordinating fabric for Sunshine Gang arrived from Kammie Lou Lou. It's a total blast from the past and I already have it washed and ready to cut a fabulous new outfit for Morgan! I am still waiting on the Watercolor panel round from Wanderlust Fabric. If you pre-ordered a shirt from that fabric round, we are still a few weeks out from that order arriving and garments being sewn. I will keep you all posted though as to the eta of that order.

Now, back to the sewing room!!
