Hi my name is Jessica and I am the owner of Morgan's Threads!! I have been sewing since I was a young girl, and with the birth of my third and final baby Morgan, I decided to really kick it in gear and make her some sweet outfits. Over the past year, I began getting requests from friends and family about making clothing items to sell. I wasn't too sure if this was something I wanted to pursue, for a number of reasons. One being that I love to sew, and I didn't want to turn my passion into a job that I might grow tired of at some point. The other reason is that I am a perfectionist when it comes to sewing. I see all of the "flaws" and assume others will too. But, with a little more prodding from my friends and family, I decided to just take the leap and make it happen.
Next came the hard part: becoming compliant. Most people do not realize what it means to be compliant for selling children's items. My past work experience gave me some insight into what I would need to do, but it was still not an easy task, and I definitely drug my feet working on getting it all figured out. Being compliant means that I am following federal standards to ensure that my items are safe and can be tracked if a problem arises. I have to follow certain guidelines when it comes to the fabric I use, as well as the information that is on the tag of the item. Basically, it all comes down to making sure your child is getting a safe product.
Now that the hard part is done, I can get to the fun part... SEWING!! I have so much fun putting together fabrics and making a unique, one-of-a kind piece. Currently in the sewing room, I have some fabrics that are RTS (ready to sew) and I would be happy to get something started for you! Most, well currently all, of the fabrics I have in stock are designs for girls. Over the next couple months I plan to stock more boy fabrics because I know I have a few mom's of boys out there following Morgan's Threads. Items currently available to sew include the basic tee with short or long sleeves, regular neckband, cowl neckband, or hood. For more ideas, shoot me a message or checkout Morgan's Threads on Facebook.
Thank you for reading my first blog post for Morgan's Threads!! I am excited to start this adventure and hope you enjoy following me. If you have any questions about the items we make, or would like to order a particular style or design, please contact us anytime via email morgansthreads@gmail.com
